Military Spouse Federal Jobs with US DOD Agencies with PPP-S by Bobby Winn and Kathryn Troutman 1

Oh Chapman and mr Bobby win from Washington DC were actually in the hack Center in Crystal City thanks to new standards myths and I'll send. All of you the link to the back center so. You can see. What the Brack Center does here in Crystal City I'm very very pleased to be here today to be teaching a webinar on priority placement program for spouses and the reason. That this webinar came about is that I published a new sample in the fifth edition of the federal resume guidebook and it has been causing a stir in my classes the certified federal job search training classes and so to begin our webinar. I just wanted to show how your cv can help you to find a job, I know a site - https://legaljobsearcher.com/ which has lots of examples of cv, and I think it will be meaningfull for you.

You what's in the book for the priority placement program success story for our spouse. We have her in the book in a couple of places and I sent. This all to you last night by email so. You would have. This this is a quote and this is what started the entire new sample and my job seeker guide Natalie Richardson which is not her real name and fictionalized. She wrote me and she says. That any spouse can get on PPP. If they apply within 30 days of the military moved pcs. Now Bobby Wynn is going to go over the actual processes for a spouse to get on the TCC so we're gonna look into. This way more deep. What Natalie says here but in the end. She was she her resume was resubmitted. It was improved and she did get a job and as a public affairs specialist. I have her resume in my networking chapter with her LinkedIn resume is in here and I sent. It to you and then. I also put in here in step six in the resume writing chapter her before resume and after. This is the first resume. She sent over to PPP. That got her a score from TTP of only GS four and five clerical and then.

I had her do a chronological so. I could see the dates and places and and we analyzed. It and work on it for with our outline format and she took. It back to PPP and this time. They rated her as administrative seven and Public Affairs nine and then. She went ahead and applied for jobs so. This is her story but this is a Bobby win it's going to be given the backstory on how. All of this happened. How her resume moved from nowhere to successful with the PPP app and so. I really appreciate. What Natalie is on she offered to let. Me have it in the in the book and then. I kept talking about it in my classes and went certification classes and there were so. Many questions by the attendees. That I decided to invite Bobby Wynn to come to a webinar so.

That we can. All learn more about how the PPP works for spouses which is chapter number fourteen so I'm going to turn. It over to Bobby win. You have the story of how. That came to be and you know it's a success for one of our clients in my book and other people and what I would want and what I hope from this webinar is that you will learn. How to do this for your own clients and help them to navigate ppps in order to land a federal job so thank you everybody and here. We go introducing mr Bobby wind good morning again my name is Bobby Wayne and I work for the Department of Defense civilian transition programs office. We fall under the responsibility of the Undersecretary of defense for civilian personnel policy.

We administer the priority placement program the PPP and the PPP itself has been around since 1965. Even back in the mid 1960s. We had a need to register folks in a program. That had been advertised people. That had been adversely affected to know probably. All so the PPP has been around since about the mid 1960s overall. We have placed over 260000 DoD employees. That which includes military spouses through the PPP up to this day up to date the military spouse preference program which we are going to talk about today I'm going to tell. You about the difference between military spouse preference and program s and today. We will concentrate mostly on the program s as Catherine mentioned. It is in Chapter 14 of the PPP handbook so let's go ahead and get started on these with the slides.

That we have here first of all references are concerned program air and the military spouse preference is part of law the PPP itself is not bound by love the priority placement program is not bound by law. It is a Secretary of Defense program as. I mentioned to you a few minutes ago. That was created back in 1965 but military spouse preference is bound by title 10 United States Code section 1784 so the law says. We must have a program in place. Where military spouses who accompany their sponsors to new duty station. Whether that's from a CONUS to a cone of activity or colors going O'Connor's to a foreign area or coming from. One foreign area back to the States or from. One foreign area to another there must be military spouse preference afforded to those spouses. That accompany. These promises to these areas then.

We have a DoD regulation DoD. I for 1800 point 25 volume 315. That speaks to employment of spouses of active duty military members so we've got to law but then. We had to interpret the law with DoD. I 1400 point 25 volume 315 for the spouses so we're also guys. We talked about the ppb handbook chapter 14 of the priority placement handbook okay that's for program s registration not military spouse but program s registration and counseling it gives the HR community of the guidance necessary to register. You and counsel. You regarding program s in the PPP. We also have a checklist in chapter 14 appendix 8 which is where the counseling checklist is and that's where.
